I got a Liberal Democrat leaflet through the door the other day asking me to join their campaign to save Oxford’s public toilets.
But Labour has already saved the toilets. We will modernise the popular loos at Gloucester Green and we plan a community toilet scheme involving shops and pubs.
Is the Lib Dem parliamentary candidate simply out of touch? Does he not talk to the local Lib Dem councillors, or is he short of things to campaign about?
Labour and Lib Dem councillors even voted to keep open the Wolvercote public toilets in the winter, as well as the summer, at our budget meeting last month. So which toilets exactly are the Lib Dems now campaigning to keep open? If their candidate cannot come up with a sensible policy on WCs, heaven help us should he ever become the Member of Parliament for Oxford East.
