PEOPLE in Banbury will start recycling their food waste from next week.
Introductory packs and brown kitchen caddies will be delivered to homes across the town from Monday.
Once households have the caddy, food waste can be collected and thrown into brown bins alongside garden waste.
About 18,000 homes across the town are getting their food waste pack in one of three stages. The other stages are on March 22 and April 5.
Banbury is the final area in the district to join the food waste scheme, which was launched last September. In total, it covers 57,000 homes.
George Reynolds, executive member for environment, recreation and health, said: “Banbury is the biggest addition to our scheme and will produce an enormous amount of food waste.”
Each home will get a caddy, free roll of compostable liners, a fridge magnet and a leaflet outlining what can now go in the garden waste bin. Food including raw and cooked meat, vegetables, peelings and fruit can be recycled.
