AN ACCIDENT on the M40 north of Banbury this morning is still causing major problems on roads across north Oxfordshire.
The northbound carriageway of the M40 is expected to be closed between Banbury and Gaydon until at least 7pm while the road is resurfaced after being damaged when more than 200 gallons of diesel fuel were spilled when a lorry and a car collided.
A 10-mile queue of traffic has built up back to junction 10 of the motorway at Ardley and the centre of Banbury is gridlocked due to traffic coming off the motorway to try to find alternative routes.
Heavy traffic is also reported on the B4100, the A422, A43 and A4260.
