PEOPLE of all shapes and sizes are urged to pull on their running shoes and sign up for this year’s Sport Relief Mile.
Six places across Oxfordshire are holding runs on Sunday, March 21, with distances of one, three and six miles available.
All cash raised will help transform the lives of people across the UK and the world’s poorest countries.
Runners can choose from Oxford Go Active Mile, in Harbord Road, Cutteslowe; Heythrop Park Mile, in Enstone, near Chipping Norton; Didcot Ladygrove Mile, in Avon Way; Thame Lions Mile, in Southern Road, Thame; Bloxham Mile, Bloxham; Vale Go Active Mile, in Ardington, near Wantage.
Fancy dress is encouraged.
There will also be a sponsored one-mile walk around Oxford Greyhound Stadium by staff and the dogs on Friday, March 19.
Celebrities are taking part in the national event, including five-time Olympic gold medal winner rower Sir Steve Redgrave. He said: “Everyone can feel good knowing all the money raised will go to helping some of the most disadvantaged people.”
Since its launch in 2002, millions of people have taken part in Sport Relief, helping to raise more than £80m.
Sport Relief and Comic Relief have helped a variety of organisations and schemes in Oxfordshire since 2002.
The Bridge, in Iffley Road, Oxford, which helps young people with alcohol problems, received £119,591.
Oxfordshire Mental Health Matters was given £103,619 and Oxford Otters, which runs sporting activities for disabled people, received £1,728.
Entrance to the run costs £5 for adults, £2 for children under 16 and £12 for a family of two adults and two children.
