Sir – I am certain that Christopher Gray’s particular brand of invective will continue for as long as it produces criticism from readers irked by it and so who am I to question what is clearly a shrewd editorial policy by The Oxford Times with regard to our favourite anathema?
Instead I think that we long-suffering souls should have some co-ordinated sport at his expense, on the basis that ridicule is always a trenchant weapon against an over-inflated ego, and therefore invite anagrams of his name that are reflective of his journalistic excesses.
Personally I have always been prompted to think: “Oh, starchy griper!” at many of his outbursts and long-suspected him to be a “right rare psycho” but am sure that others can do better . . .
