Sir – Have any of the letter writers supporting a park-and-ride circuit for the London/airport coaches recently tried driving this route in rush hour?
The section from Seacourt to Peartree alone on a Friday afternoon can take 30 minutes plus. Not what I’d fancy sitting in on the way to my flight! On a related topic, I would welcome an explanation on why none of the buses from Kidlington/Summertown serve the rail station.
With the car restrictions on George Street/Park End, buses could reach the station in a few minutes. There is more space here to turn around than Magdalen Street, and there must be hundreds of people each week who have to make the current trek. Several years ago some of the number 2A buses did this route — they were cancelled at the time on the basis that all buses would run through to Headington!
Reinstating this small link would make a great improvement to the otherwise excellent Kidlington bus services, and I hope it is under consideration for the new combined services being proposed.
