Oxford United's FA Trophy run came to an end at the Kassam Stadium as bogey side Kidderminster knocked them out in the quarter-finals.
Substitute Rob Matthews turned in Harriers' winner seven minutes from time after Brian Smikle had got round Oxford's defence to cut the ball back.
United fans may find this defeat a mixed blessing as they can now concentrate everything on winning promotion, without further disruption to their fixtures.
Kidderminster, who had brought more than twice as many fans for this game as they did for the league encounter a fortnight earlier, scored in the 17th minute on a counter-attack from United's own corner.
Jamie Cook's flag kick was not controlled well by Kevin Sandwith, and Harriers right back Duane Courtney instigated a swift break.
United's marking and defensive play from then on wasn't very good, as Darryl Knights was allowed space to feed Damian Spencer on the right, and from Spencer's low cross, Brian Smikle turned the ball in from close range.
Knights had spurned an earlier good chance when shooting over from a good position, while Billy Turley saved bravely at the feet of Smikle on another occasion the home defence was stretched.
Chris Wilder made six changes to the team that beat Rushden in the league in midweek, with Ryan Clarke, Rhys Day, Chris Hargreaves and Sam Deering all rested and on the bench.
Up front James Constable was patnered by Matt Green, while at the other end of the pitch, there was a rare outing, in recent weeks at least, for Mark Creighton.
United had most of the play in the first half, recovering from going behind to put together some fine passing moves, despite the poor playing surface.
Constable did well to pull the ball back from the bye-line in the opening minutes, but no teammate could latch onto it.
Adam Chapman had a shot beaten out by keeper Ross Atkins, who also saved well from Simon Clist's volley before the linesman raised his flag against Cook for offside.
Foemr Cheltenham centre forward Spencer was looking the most accomplished player on the pitch, and he almost scored when he headed just wide from a left-wing cross.
United switched to three up front, and after a free-kick was poorly headed up and backwards by a Harriers defender, Creighton headed against the top of the bar.
New signing Ashley Cain replaced Cook at half-time and Cain looked very lively.
Oxford's equaliser came in the 65th minute and was deserved for the amount of possession they'd had.
Creighton's long ball forward was nodded on by Constable, and Matt Green headed forward, as keeper Atkins and his centre back Martin Riley got in a terrible mix-up.
Cain showed fine control to bring down a difficult high ball before shooting wide.
And then Smikle caused havoc by getting round Wright and laying on the pass for Matthews to shoot high into the net and take Kidderminster into the semi-finals.
