A MUSIC festival will celebrate its 21st birthday by raising funds for the forces charity Help for Heroes.
Chalgrove Live Music Festival started as an afternoon of folk music in the back garden of a small village pub.
Over the past two decades, the festival has grown substantially, and this year the three day event is expected to attract 1,000 festival goers each day from across the country.
The festival runs between August 6 and 8, and features 20 live bands.
Aong the headliners is John Coghlan’s Quo – the band of original Status Quo drummer John Coghlan. They will be supported by 706 Union Avenue, a group of RAF servicemen. Also playing is tribute band Bon Giovi.
Head of the festival’s organising committee Kelle Nixey said: “We are a very small festival with a growing reputation, and over the years we have raised lots of money for charity.
“This year we have one of best line-ups so far, and we hope to raise as much as possible for Help for Heroes, which is a very good cause.
“It’s quite a coup for us to get John Coghlan’s Quo to come and play.
“There are lots of people who can’t afford to go to Glastonbury, and compared to Cornbury we are very grass roots, but families can come to us and see some good bands.
