A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital after two cars crashed at the entrance to a Bicester supermarket.
Police have appealed for witnesses after the woman's Fiat Punto and a Mercedes driven by a man collided near Tesco car park in Pingle Drive.
The incident happened about 12.45pm today and both are believed to have leg injuries that are not life threatening.
The woman was trapped in her gold coloured Punto and had to be cut free by firefighters.
Two fire engines, a rescue tender, police, ambulance and the air ambulance attended the incident.
Station manager Bob Speakman, who is based at Kidlington, said: “The chap in the Mercedes came into Tesco and the lady driving the smaller car was coming out.
“There was one driver in each car. The lady was airlifted to hospital with leg injuries.
“The man, in his 50s, was taken by ambulance to hospital. He also had leg injuries.”
Meanwhile, scores of cars were trapped in Tesco’s car park for around two hours because the collision blocked the entrance.
Pingle Drive opened again at around 2.30pm for people heading to Bicester Village and the Tesco entrance opened about an hour later after roads policing team completed an examination of the scene.
If you witnessed the crash call police on 08458 505505.
