PEOPLE are being urged to come forward to help put on a celebration of Oxfordshire’s women in the arts.
A date has been set for the third annual Oxford Ladyfest — but now organisers want to hear from female artists and performers, along with anyone who can help organise the event.
This year’s festival is planned to take place between Thursday and Sunday, May 13-16.
Organiser Charlotte Frost, 27, from Cowley, said: “Often women can be marginalised in music and the arts so this is a festival to promote women in the performing arts. It is for everyone to attend, you don’t have to be a woman, but the idea is to celebrate women performers.”
Co-organisers Jay Bernard, left, and Lizzie Atkinson are pictured coming up with some creative ideas for the festival. Gigs featuring up and coming musicians are planned, plus club nights and possibly workshop discussions and film screenings.
The festival will raise money for the Oxford Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre, which offers a helpline for female victims of sexual assaults.
Ms Frost said: “Last year was really great, but we want to make it a bit bigger this year.”
