A very cold morning a delayed start and two teams eager to play football Wantage went into the game knowing that Barton although well beaten the last time the teams met would offer far tougher opposition today and so it proved.
The wantage attack peppered the goal for the first ten minutes but just couldnt beat the Barton keeper who seemed to save everything thrown at him until Will Fletcher drilled the ball low and hard into the right hand corner to open the scoring.
Fletcher went on to complete his hat trick before half time and Wantage went in at the break 3-0 up but still new a hard second half was to come .
Daniel Evans , James Webster and David Robins all scored one a piece in what were all well worked team goals before Will Fletcher poked in at the far post to make it seven There were further shots on target from the Wantage attack but again the Barton keeper stood his ground and saved well .
Barton scored a deserved goal in the last few minutes with a fine strike from Sabir Ali after a delightful through ball .
All in all a good game to watch with Wantage playing spells of really good football and Barton looking a much improved side and playing some neat tidy football themselves
