A KOREAN businessman became infatuated with a city centre barmaid and harassed her from his prison cell, a court heard.
Computer software company director Jaewan Lee, 37, admitted breaching his restraining order for a second time at Oxford Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The court imposed the order after Lee pleaded guilty on January 16 to harassing a 25-year-old Czech barmaid.
Prosecutor Sarah McKay told the court Lee was arrested and jailed for three weeks after going to Euro Bar, in George Street, in a bid to speak to her the following day. Then on January 20 Lee used a prison phone to try and contact his victim again.
Mrs McKay added: “Police do have grave concerns for the victim. He has ignored court orders.”
Laura Parker, defending, said Lee, who owns a company in South Korea, came to Oxford in November on a six-month tourist visa to learn English.
He lives in hotels and his address was given as The Four Pillars Hotel in Abingdon Road. She added: “He was lonely and apart from hotel staff she was his only interaction.”
Lee was remanded in custody to be sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Monday, February 22.
