AN Abingdon soldier accused of desertion after he refused to fight in Afghanistan will appear in court today.
Lance Corporal Joe Glenton, of 4 Logistic Support Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps, based at Dalton Barracks, will appear via videolink at the Royal Courts of Justice in London for a plea hearing.
Glenton will face a single charge of being absent without leave.
The 27-year-old joined the Army in 2004 but left in 2007 after serving in Afghanistan.
He handed himself in after just over two years absence, during which he went to south-east Asia and Australia.
