THIS is the third and final section of the panoramic picture of pupils and staff at Blackbird Leys Primary School in Oxford.
The picture was taken in the school grounds in 1965, just six years after the school had opened with just 94 pupils.
As we recalled (Memory Lane, September 14 and 28 last year), the school expanded rapidly as new families moved on to the estate.
By 1968, there were 1,200 pupils in 42 classes.
Despite being surrounded by builders in the early years, the school quickly established itself, with a varied selection of activities.
Pupils enjoyed school outings, Christmas concerts, camps at Hill End, an after-school club, cycling proficiency, football, netball, athletics, swimming, roller skating and ice skating.
