The news this week that we have barely come out of recesssion was not a surprise to most of us. While we no longer feel that we are in a downward spiral, the move upwards has yet to gain any momentum.
Nevertheless, there is still much to be optimistic about in Oxfordshire. As we reported last week, a study by the think-tank Centre for Cities put Oxford among the leading cities in the UK on a variety of measures including lowest youth employment, highest skill levels and lowest levels of inequality.
A new rail route between Oxford and London has won Government backing and there is every prospect that it will come to fruition within the next three years.
This week, we report a £250,000 revamp for Modern Art Oxford.
The next 12 to 24 months will be tough economically, but there is plenty around to cheer us and to give us confidence for the future prosperity and wellbeing of Oxfordshire.
