Sir – I was surprised to read (January 14) that Supt Andy Murray had admonished the policemen for joining in sledging on Boars Hill for a short time.
I thought the present idea was for police to engage more with the public in order to foster better relations. Surely joining in with young people in their enjoyment was doing just that.
As he is more highly paid than his officers, he wasted far more taxpayers’ money by using his time to rebuke them.
It seems to be that administration in any public department now completely lacks common sense and any sense of humour.
This sort of faction must be detrimental to any better relationship with the public, be they young or old.
