I endorse the view of letter writer Chris Osman and Woodstock councillor Collin Carritt in their views on pavement cleaning, published in the Oxford Mail.
I think I am right in saying that Oxfordshire County Council’s responsibility ends with the road and does not include the pavement. So we really have no choice but to clear our own paths, unless pedestrians are to be imprisoned in their own homes.
A path to the front door and a path along the front of the house or garden is all that is required.
I did it in 15 minutes. If everyone else had done the same, I would have been able to walk to my local shops as usual.
Why don’t we do what countries accustomed to snowfall have found to be effective, where I gather you can be fined if you don’t clear the path in front of your home.
