MORE than £500 was collected for victims of the Haiti earthquake by a fundraising walk in Oxford.
Seven people collected £520.25 on Saturday morning as they walked from Blackbird Leys Community Centre to the city centre.
The journey, which is about three miles, took the group about two-and-a half hours to complete and included a stop at SS Mary and John Church, in Cowley, for tea and coffee.
It was the brainchild of actor Justin Davis, 28, from Kestrel Crescent, Blackbird Leys.
He said: “I just felt the need to do something after seeing some of the images coming from Haiti, especially the ones of the children being pulled from the rubble. The walk has been a success. It’s helped bring the community together, our youngest walker was a nine-year-old girl and our eldest was in their 60s.
“I would like to say thank you to everyone who took part and donated.”
