THE search is on to find Oxford’s finest French baguette.
French in Oxford, a new website for French speakers in the city, has launched the contest to sort the wheat from the chaff.
Some of the city’s best bakers will be up against supermarket baguettes before 12 ‘jurors' give their verdict. Organiser Florence Rossignol wants people to log on to frenchinoxford.co.uk to submit their nominations for the contest.
The mother-of-two, of Rawlinson Road, Oxford, said: “The idea for the competition first came about as a joke, because we were with some friends and talking about how difficult it was to find an authentic French baguette.” Nominations can be from an artisan baker, or supermarket and must be received by the judging team by Tuesday.
