ROBBERS chased a man back to his house before forcing his housemate to withdraw money from a cash machine.

A 22-year-old man was chased through East Oxford at about 3am yesterday.

When he reached his house they forced their way in and also attacked his 21-year-old housemate. Both men were assaulted but no weapons were used.

The housemate was forced by one of the robbers to the cashpoint at Tesco in Cowley Road, while the second stayed inside the house.

Both robbers fled with £100 when they returned from the cash machine.

The two robbers are described as white and in their late teens or early 20s.

Det Sgt Russell Simpson said: “This is a serious incident that has left both victims very shaken and we would appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

“The Cowley Road is often busy in the early hours with people returning home from a night out.

“Did you see a man being chased by two other men? Did you see someone being forced to withdraw money from a cashpoint?”

Police investigating the robbery would not identify the road in East Oxford where the robbers forced their way into the house.

Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from Cowley Road at the time of the chase and the robbery.

Anyone with information can call police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
