A care home firm in Oxford has been told to pay out £145,000 over the death of a disabled teenager who was fatally scalded in a bath of "excessively hot" water.
Paraplegic Yelena Hasselberg-Langley, 18, suffered severe burns after being lowered into the water at a supported living centre in Owens Way.
The hot water had left her so badly injured that she died on August 31, 2007, four days after the accident.
The Health and Safety Executive, which prosecuted the company, said the water was "excessively hot" at more than 44C (111.2F).
Lifeways Community Care, based in London, which runs the home, admitted health and safety breaches at a hearing last year.
And a judge at Oxford Crown Court today told the company to pay £100,000 fine, as well as £45,000 costs.
