Ever since they became parents, Peter and Rebecca Quinn have been keen to find a new home which would provide the space needed for a growing family.
However, with the economic climate looking bleak, the thought of selling their present home so they could start househunting was a daunting prospect.
As the couple had two children — Adam, two, and one-year old Lauren, they were keen to buy a home they could move into immediately, Mr Quinn, the deputy director of Equal Opportunities and Diversity at Oxford University, said: “We had wanted to move from our two-bedroomed house in Bicester to a more family-friendly home in the Chipping Norton or Banbury area for some time.
“We put our home on the market and despite having some viewings and prospective buyers, had trouble finding a buyer who could complete.”
However, everything changed when they visited a development in Banbury — Whitehorse Park at Hanwell Fields.
Mrs Quinn, a nurse at the Churchill Hospital in Headington, said: “We immediately fell in love with its location and the homes on offer.
“However, what made the development even more enticing was the fact that the housebuilder — Banner Homes — was offering a part-exchange scheme which meant the worry and burden of selling our home could potentially disappear.”
Mr Quinn added: “I grew up in a Victorian three-storey home in Yorkshire and as a result have always liked the layout of such homes.
“Therefore, when I saw Whitehorse Park offered three-storey living, I was very keen to explore the possibilities.”
“When we stepped into the showhome we were immediately struck by the size and layout of the rooms, it was exactly what we were looking for as a family.
Mr Quinn added: “We were used to living on the flat side of Oxford, so it is fantastic to now be waking up to views of the hilly countryside.
“The development is also located in such a family-friendly area and there are plenty of activities for all ages.
“I now belong to a canoe club and regularly paddle along the Oxford Canal which is at the bottom of the Hanwell estate.”
Whitehorse Park is a collection of 21 three, four and five-bedroomed homes.
There are only four, four-bedroomed properties left for sale, with prices starting at £299,950. Some homes come with interior furnishings.
