A SERIES of Flood Watch alerts have been issued for rivers in Oxfordshire tonight as water levels rise due to the rapid thaw after recent snow.
The alerts cover the following rivers:
- Chalgrove Brook, at Chalgrove and Stadhampton.
- Evenlode, from Moreton-in-Marsh to the Wychwoods, Charlbury, Long Hanborough and Cassington.
- Glyme, at Wootton and Woodstock.
- Ray, and its tributaries from Shipton Lee to Islip.
- Thame, from Marsworth to Thame, Wheatley, Dorchester and Shillingford.
- Windrush, from Bourton-on-the-Water to Burford, Witney, Standlake and Newbridge.
Flood Watch alerts mean that flooding of low-lying land and roads near the rivers can be expected and that people living nearby should be prepared in case the level of alert is increased.
