A 28-YEAR-OLD man who attacked the mother of his child with a baseball bat after finding her in bed with another man was jailed today.
Matthew Forrest, of Fencott, Kidlington, had drunk 10 pints of Guinness and four vodkas before bursting into the house of Amy McLaughlan, 25, whom he had recently separated from.
He was only arrested when an officer called to the scene threw a brick through a window to distract him and it hit Forrest on the head.
Brian Payne, prosecuting, told Oxford Crown Court Forrest had moved out of the couple’s home, but retained a key.
On October 25 he let himself in, picked up a baseball bat and entered the bedroom to find his ex-partner in bed with a neighbour.
Mr Payne said: “He attacked her. She was in virtually no clothes, apart from a pair of underwear, and he took her out of the bed, hit her left leg and as she left the room hit her on the arm.
“The police found him in an extremely excited state. He wouldn’t come out and was seen with a knife shouting ‘I’m going to stick it in her’.”
Stephen Parker, defending, said his client had taken the break up of the 10-year relationship very badly.
Forrest had earlier admitted ABH, making threats to kill and criminal damage. He was jailed for 16 months.
