A burglar admitted breaking in to nine properties in a month.
Wayne Axtell, 27, of Spencer Avenue, Yarnton, appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court today, where he admitted a burglary in Queen’s Close, Eynsham, on Monday, January 11, and asked for a further eight break-ins to be taken into account during sentencing.
Det Con Kevin Middlecote said: “I hope that this result shows residents across Oxfordshire that burglars in the county will not be tolerated.
“I would like to make it clear that we will do all that we can, including working with our colleagues in neighbouring areas, to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.”
The eight further burglaries included three break-ins in Kidlington: One in Cromwell Road on Friday, December 4, one in Flatford Place on Wednesday, December 9, and one in Begbroke Lane on Saturday, December 12.
There were three offences in Upper Road, in Kennington, on Monday, December 21, Christmas Eve and on Tuesday, January 5.
Axtell also admitted burglaries in North Hinksey Lane, in Oxford, on Monday, December 14, and in Station Road, Bletchingdon, on Tuesday, December 29.
Axtell was remanded in custody to be sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Monday, February 8.
