Police this afternoon appealed for witnesses after a 16-year-old girl was assaulted as she walked home from a night out in Witney.
At around midnight last Friday the girl was walking along Curbridge Road, towards the Tower Hill roundabout, when she was approached by a man who asked if he could walk with her.
The man then put his arm around her and continued walking with her along the road. As they approached Tower Hill Cemetery, by the entrance situated on the Curbridge Road, the man picked the girl up and carried her into the graveyard before assaulting her.
Details of the attack were only released this afternoon.
Det Con Paddy O’Grady said: “This is a very serious incident that has left a young girl very shaken.
“We would like to hear from anyone who may have been walking or driving along the Curbridge Road or alongTower Hill at this time that may have seen the young girl with a man.”

- A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and bailed to appear back at Witney police station on February 23.
