Sir – Could you please confirm that Christopher Gray’s restaurant reviews are indeed parodies as one of your readers appears to believe (Letters, January 7)?

Whilst I would argue that the reviews are all too often complimentary with only minor quibbles (after all, how could so many restaurants in Oxfordshire come out with flying colours?), it is a considerable stretch and rather insulting to the restaurants concerned, and Mr Gray, to describe them as parodies. That said, it would be much more interesting and objective to have reviews that are more constructively critical, and that score the restaurants to enable comparisons to be made.

Offering the restaurants a right to reply would add another dimension.
