Police have arrested a man on suspicion of burglary following an attempted burglary at a property in Church Road, Cholsey.

At about 1am on Saturday the occupant was in bed when he heard noises near to the front door.

Police said the would-be thieves must have been disturbed, as they left the property without stealing anything but the door was damaged and a bolt had been forced from the door frame.

A car was seen in the area at the time and the details were given to the police.

A 41-year-old man was later arrested in Wallingford on suspicion of burglary. He has been released on police bail until February 7.
