THE Met Office says this week will signal the start of a slow thaw across Oxfordshire — even though more snow is on the cards.
While the county still comes to terms with the effects of heavy snowfall last week with some schools and colleges remaining closed, Met Office forecaster Barry Gromett said more snow was on its way on Wednesday.
He said: “The outlook is for more snow, but it doesn’t really get as far as Oxford until the small hours of Wednesday when we will see some outbreak of mainly brisk snow showers.
“But the theme for the week is of a slow thaw.
“Daytime temperatures do pick up and will be around 2C or 3C, so what we have lying around will disappear slowly, but night-time temperatures will still be below freezing.”
