PEOPLE on Oxford’s biggest estates are calling for gritters to visit.
City council staff worked through the night on Wednesday to ensure that the city centre and main routes were clear of snow and ice.
The council also provided a team of officers to clear access to medical centres and the main doctors’ surgeries.
But Patrick Murray, city councillor for Barton and Sandhills, urged the city council to grit more roads on the Barton estate.
He said: “I appreciate the constraints the councils are under, but Barton does seem to have been left until last.”
Former Blackbird Leys parish council chairman Brian Lester added: “As far as I am aware there has been no gritting outside shops in Blackbird Leys Road and there are a lot of elderly people around.”
Recycling and rubbish collections in the city have been cancelled.
