Police today appealed for witnesses after a series of burglaries in Kennington.

A property in Upper Road was burgled on December 21. Thieves smashed two windows at the rear to gain access to the house. It is unknown at this stage what was stolen.

On Christmas Eve, burglars broke into a house in St Swithun’s Road and stole jewellery and between December 19 and December 24, a house in Farnham Road was broken into and a computer and a television were amongst items stolen.

Details of the break-ins were only released by police this afternoon.

PC Paul Reece said: “On each of these occasions the thieves have used force to smash windows to get into the properties and I am sure that someone must have heard something.

“The burglaries all happened during the day and I urge anyone who saw suspicious activity and has information to contact the police.”

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact PC Reece at Abingdon police station via 0845 8 505 505, or if you don’t want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
