In an end-to-end game Sharks eventually edged out the Comets 5-3.
The Sharks finally started a game brightly & Connor Madden forced a tremendous save from Joel Macy in the Comets goal. Sydney Njoroge was back to his tigerish best in midfiled and it was his great through ball that sent Connor Madden free to finish for the first goal. Two further goals followed from Madden, including one long-range drive as Sharks extended their lead. The Comets however refused to give up and they forced a corner after a long shot was well tipped round the post by Malyke Mason in the Sharks goal. A tremendous scramble resulted from a good in swinging corner and this finally saw Luke Strivens fire the ball home right on the stroke of half-time.
The Comets now piled on the pressure and a further goal followed from Adam Grisbrooke who slammed the ball home from just inside the area. The Sharks now had to respond and after a great dribble from Connor Madden the ball ran to Dany Ziada who precisely finished from close in. Then a jinking left wing run from Connor Casey fed Madden in the box he was denied by a great save from Macy but the ball ran to Ziada who made no mistake with his finish.
The Comets again refused to give up and pressed again on the Sharks goal. A really determined run through the middle saw Luke Strivens finish low to the keeper’s left. Both sides continued to attack and only a last ditch Harry Barrett tackle stopped Comets from scoring. Mason & Macy made further great saves to keep the score line as it was.
A great game of attacking football from both sides.
