Oxford City Council’s decision to only hold meetings for debate on very limited occasions (Nuala Young’s letter in Friday’s Oxford Mail) and its failure to deal with public furore over consultative issues (such as the closure of public toilets) while intending to spend in excess of £300,000 to facelift one particular public loo, speaks of trying to steamroller through executive proposals without proper and lawful process.
It is time the public in and around the city called for a vote of no confidence in our so-called representatives, and called for a new council to be elected.
It appears certain members are only committed to issues where their name can be personally linked or engraved on a name plate.
They need to deserve such an honour by doing what the community wants, not for their own benefit.
