Wantage Concords 1 – 2 AFC Brightwell Wantage Goal – Arthur Tilly AFC Brightwell Goals- Sam Gould & James Stewart A glorious Autumnal morning was experienced by players and spectators in sunny Wantage.
The game got off to a terrific start with both teams hungry for the ball. AFC Brightwell kept pushing hard with an excellent attack force but several of their shots were met with equally brilliant saves by Wantage much improved goal keeper Joshua Legge.
On returned attacks Wantage continued to battle hard and kept pushing strong with Nathan Edwards driving up the line. Half way through the first half, Wantage conceded a free kick close to their own goal area and with an excellent attempt from The AFC striker set them out in front, hitting a great shot in the top left corner.
With more determination Wantage continued to hold and battle strong forcing the ball out quickly from an AFC attack up to Arthur Tilly who made a darting run with the ball to drive in the equalizer.
In the second half, more of the same great action with a stronger attack force being put forward by AFC Brightwell. The pressure was met with great defence; with a powerful shot being blocked by James McFarland in the stomach. Even though injured he got up immediately to battle on, but unfortunately the pressure was too much and AFC put in a late second goal. With only minutes to go both teams were trying hard to push forward with a positive attitude to play. A great game enjoyed by all team managers and the teams. Well done to all players for such an exciting game.
