The biggest fireworks display in the county is likely to be Oxford Round Table’s charity event tonight, in the city’s South Park.
It will feature a 26ft-tall burning wooden ice princess, £11,000 of fireworks, entertainers, fairground rides and a crowd expected to reach about 18,000.
Jason Priest, one of the many volunteers, said: “We’re now in our 42nd year. As soon as the last firework goes up we start planning the next event – it’s a year-round thing for us.
“We’ve got so much going on this year, we really should be able to attract 18,000 people which will really help the charities we support. Pre-sale tickets are very important to us and they help people to come in on time. Log on to on oxfordfireworks.co.uk”
Gates open at 5pm for a 6.30pm start. Tickets cost £5 each or £15 for a family (two adults and two children).
