PARENTS and children spun, twirled and threw shapes for an event aimed at giving families the opportunity to dance together.
More than 100 people took part in the Pegasus Theatre-organised event at Oxford Town Hall on Sunday.
The dance event was part of the theatre’s On the Road programme, which takes activities to venues around the city while the theatre in Magdalen Road undergoes a multi-million-pound reconstruction.
Oxford City Council dance officer Claire Thompson said: “The event was fantastic.
“The take-up was great and the feedback was really positive.
“It was really great to see parents and their children coming to dance together.”
Boys and girls from three upwards, mums and dads, and even a few grandparents learned contemporary or hip hop dance at the workshop.
Crossover Intergenerational Dance Company and Barton-based hip hop dance troupe Messy Jam also gave performances.
Ms Thompson said: “A lot of classes tend to be targeted at children or adults so there isn’t a huge amount of opportunity for different generations to dance together – but it is something we are trying to encourage more of.”
