SHOCK tactics with graphic pictures by the police are nothing new, but the posters appealing to dog owners to clean up after their animals will provoke a strong reaction.
The stark image of dog faeces being put up in Barton and Risinghurst will be seen as distasteful by many and unsuitable for public consumption.
But the counter-argument is that it is not as distasteful as children having to walk through dog fouling where they play.
Owners who do not clear up after their dogs are lazy and this is a disgusting blight on our communities.
It does not take much to be prepared with a plastic bag at hand if you take your dog out. It’s not as though the natural progress of food should come as a surprise.
Pardon the pun but these owners should be hounded.
There have been enough appeals to be responsible and now police community support officers feel so strongly about it they are resorting to these shock tactics to further shame errant owners. You may object to seeing it on a poster in your neighbourhood, but surely you should have more revulsion at seeing the real substance on the sole of your child’s shoe.
