Volunteers from the British Red Cross celebrated the charity’s centenary by wearing uniforms from throughout the years at a special lunch.
Members of the Oxfordshire Branch of the British Red Cross donned original uniforms from 1909 to the present day at their Centenary Lunch, held at Radley College on October 25.
Jo Brown was honoured with a certificate and a badge for completing 60 years of service and Ellen Lasbury, who has been with the organisation for more than 60 years, was invited to cut a cake as the longest-standing member.
Marian Faulkner, service manager at the charity’s Abingdon office, said: “Looking at some of the older uniforms makes you wonder how they ever wore them, they weren’t very practical.
“It was good to say thanks to the volunteers, because frankly we wouldn’t exist without them.”
