English country houses have always fascinated foreigners, and several Oxfordshire examples feature in a new, lavishly illustrated book called Seasons (Lime Walk Press, £27), .
First published in Denmark and Germany, where it was apparently very popular, it was compiled by a Danish designer, Mette Ahlefeldt-Laurvig, who lived in Clifton Hampton for nine years.
She spent a year with photographer Hans Ole Madsen visiting manor houses, cottages and gardens — most of them in Oxfordshire. The ‘pictorial journey’ offers ideas for interior design inspired by the countryside and buildings, as well as gardening tips and recipes.
