MAJORETTES Lisa Monkes, seven, and Sarah Grounsell, six, took a break from entertaining the crowds at Thame Players’ fete in 1986 by having a go at the lucky dip stall, manned by Dorrie Oliver. The event was held at The Elms, in High Street.
There were high hopes when the town bus was launched in 1985. Town councillors are seen welcoming its arrival. But it lasted only three years, because few people used it.
Morris dancers took to the streets during Thame Festival in 1986. They entertained shoppers with ritual, folk and country dancing. The two-week festival that year was another huge success.
