A man has been arrested on suspicion of snatching a bag containing £6,000 of shop takings in Oxford.
A woman was carrying the bag along Between Towns Road, near Templars Square shopping centre, in Cowley, at 4.30pm yesterday, when a man snatched her bag and ran off.
But a passer-by spotted what had happened and gave chase. Police were called and arrested a man hiding in a nearby garden.
Detectives are appealing for two boys who helped direct the Good Samaritan to contact officers.
Det Sgt Russell Simpson said: “The cash was recovered, along with a quantity of drugs.”
A 29-year-old man arrested on suspicion of theft and possession of class A drugs was still in custody today.
Anyone with information about the incident should call Cowley police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
