SHOULD Oxfordshire County Council decide to axe the vital warden services from sheltered accomodation (Mail, October 26) there will be very many unecessary deaths and much avoidable discomfort for elderly residents.

Most inhabitants are not in sheltered accomodation by their own choosing. If the county council are worth their salt they should be lobbying ministers to vote against such cuts rather than implement those cuts themselves.

That speaks volumes of the council’s undemocratic methods of forcing through policies without proper public consultation.

Keith Mitchell will be old one day. Would he like to be treated so disrespectfully?
