WHEN round-the-world motorcyclist Charley Boorman roared into Bicester, he was met by fellow bike enthusiasts.
Mr Boorman dropped into Coles Bookstore, in Crown Walk, to meet fans and sign copies of his new book Race to Dakar.
Members of the Oxford Section of the BMW Club completed a special 35-mile run-out from Buckland through Bampton, Charlbury, Enstone and Lower Heyford in Mr Boorman’s honour.
The seven riders drove their BMWs — the same make Mr Boorman and Ewan McGregor used for their Long Way Round adventure — to the shop.
Organiser Geoff Clough said: “We were interested to meet Charley and were given the opportunity to meet and find out more about his travels in the informal atmosphere of the bookshop.”
Biker John Broad, of Mallards Way, Bicester, said: “I didn’t do the run, but spent 20 minutes getting togged up and getting the bike out to ride into town. There and back I did 2.7 miles.
“Charley was great, just a real good bloke with no hang-ups and really friendly, just like he is on the TV.”
