A man has become only the fifth supporter to be banned from every ground in England and Wales after an altercation with an Oxford United supporter.
Barrow AFC fan Stuart Williams, 34, was given the banning order following trouble before United’s Blue Square Premier match in Cumbria on October 3.
Williams, of Keith Street, Barrow, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment when he appeared at Furness Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
He was fined £60, ordered to pay £25 costs and a £15 victim surcharge and was given a three-year banning order.
Two Oxford fans were arrested before the match, but neither was charged.
A 35-year-old man was given an £80 fixed penalty fine and an 18-year-old man handed a caution.
