The fuse has been lit as preparations for Bonfire Night celebrations throughout Oxfordshire get under way.
The biggest display is likely to be Oxford Round Table’s charity event on Saturday, November 7, in the city’s South Park, which will feature a 26ft-tall burning wooden ice princess, £11,000 of fireworks, entertainers, fairground rides and a crowd expected to reach about 18,000.
Jason Priest, one of the many volunteers, said: “We’re now in our 42nd year. As soon as the last firework goes up we start planning the next event – it’s a year-round thing for us.
“We’ve got so much going on this year, we really should be able to attract 18,000 people which will really help the charities we support. Pre-sale tickets are very important to us and they help people to come in on time. Log on to on oxfordfireworks.co.uk”
