HUNDREDS of bird lovers descended on Oxford’s Port Meadow to encourage people to fill bird feeders and baths ahead of the winter.
Between 400 and 500 people visited the RSPB’s annual Feed the Birds event on Saturday and Sunday.
Visitors spotted lapwings, little egrets, herons and golden plovers.
Event organiser Andy Waters said: “We had a fantastic couple of days.
“Port Meadow is quite special, because rather than just garden birds, you get things like golden plovers and lapwings, which are actually quite wild, so it’s nice to see them right in the city.”
