The life of bats: 2pm, Science Oxford Live, 1-5 London Place, Oxford. An illustrated talk on the life and behaviour of some of our local bats by David Endacott. Free for members of OUWG and Science Oxford Friends. Non-members £3, groups (up to 5 people) £10. This event is suitable for both adults and children (aged 5+).

Fungal foray: 2pm-4.30pm, Wallingford Castle Meadows. Run by Northmoor Trust. Discover the fabulous fungi fruiting in the heart of Wallingford. Adults £5, Friends & under 16s free. Please call 01865 407792 to reserve a place.
THURSDAY, November 5
Birding my French Patch: 7.45pm. Sandhills School, Terrett Avenue, Oxford. Derek Moore is giving an illustrated talk to RSPB Oxford Local Group. The ‘patch’ is part of the Languedoc region between Narbonne and Carcassonne and is home to Eagle Owl, Golden Eagle, Bee-eater and Roller plus stunning butterflies. All welcome, entrance £3 (students, £2), Local Group members and children free.
