Natural England is inviting explorers of all ages to adventure into the woods led only by a flickering lantern light at Aston Rowant National Nature Reserve (NNR) on Friday.
This year’s lantern walk, ‘Glow Wild in the Dark’ will take visitors on a trail of discovery through the magic of a lantern-lit Chiltern beech woodland.
The explorers will have the opportunity to find out all about autumn wildlife with the help of experts from the Chilterns Conservation Board, Natural England and ARocha UK. As always at Aston Rowant NNR, there will be lots of fun and surprises along the way, and it promises to be a unique experience.
Jenny Crook, Natural England’s community liaison officer for the NNR, said: “Our lantern-lit walks are always popular and we hope that ‘Glow Wild in the Dark’ will offer a new and exciting experience for visitors, combining a mysterious walk in the dark with wildlife discoveries and fun activities for all the family.”
The event is free for children and only £1 for adults. Visitors can drop in any time between 6.30pm and 8pm. The walk is suitable for over fives and warm clothes and sturdy footwear is recommended as the ground is uneven in places. Visitors should bring a torch or a lantern!
Booking is essential, please call Jenny on 01844 351833 or Cathy on 01844 355506.
