A WITNEY school has published a book to help it celebrate its 350-year history.
The Henry Box School, in Church Green, commissioned local author Jane Cavell to write the book.
Launched earlier this month, it is one of the school’s many projects planned to mark the anniversary year from January next year.
The book, entitled The Henry Box School – Its Place in History, tells the story of the school since 1660.
Each chapter includes a detailed history of Witney and Great Britain during the same period.
David Bell, deputy headteacher and co-ordinator of the anniversary celebrations, said: “This is the first major project of this important celebration for the school.
“The structure for the book was suggested by Michael Wilmshurst, our current chairman of governors.
“We were fortunate to commission such a dedicated historian as Jane Cavell to research and write the book. We are very pleased with the final product.”
