Two people have been remanded in custody charged with drug offences after a package allegedly containing heroin was posted from Pakistan.
Safana Ijaz, an 18-year-old woman from Danvers Road, Oxford, has been charged with possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply, and importation of Class A drugs.
Kashif Zaman, a 25-year-old man also of Danvers Road, was charged with importation of Class A drugs.
Both appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday where they were remanded in custody to reappear on October 29.
Police said the charges came after customs officers intercepted a package, said to have contained drugs, addressed to a house in Henley Street, in East Oxford, on October 12.
It had been posted from Karachi and was intercepted in Coventry.
Officers carried out a warrant at the address in Henley Street on Monday and found further Class A drugs and drug paraphernalia.
